Privacy Policy
- LegalFriend kits are built to run in the AI you choose. We do not receive your case facts, documents, prompts, or AI answers.
- We collect only what we need to sell and deliver a kit: your email and payment details (handled by Stripe), and a record of when you download.
- We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
This policy is issued by PeopleShine Inc., doing business as LegalFriend ("LegalFriend," "we," "us"). It covers the website at legalfriend.ai and every LegalFriend self-help kit and publication we sell there (together, the "Products"), and it replaces the separate privacy policy of our former hosted Lease Review service (see section 10).
2. Information we do not collect
Our Products are downloadable publications and toolkits. You use them with an AI service or other tools that you select and control. By design:
- we do not ask for, receive, or store information about your dispute or case;
- we do not receive the prompts you send to your AI or the answers it gives you;
- we do not review your documents or drafts.
Whatever you share with an AI provider or other third-party tool is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy, not this one. Please review them before sharing sensitive information.
If you choose to email us about your case anyway, we will not use that information to give legal advice. We keep it only as part of the support correspondence described below.
3. Information we collect

4. How we share information
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the Products, under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Stripe: payment processing, receipts, and purchase records.
- Cloudflare: website hosting, content delivery, file storage for downloads, security, and cookieless analytics.
- Google Workspace: our email.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred).
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the past 12 months.
5. Cookies and tracking
legalfriend.ai does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our website statistics are collected without cookies. When you check out, Stripe's payment pages may use cookies that Stripe needs for payment and fraud prevention, under Stripe's privacy policy. Because we do not track you across other websites, we do not respond differently to Do Not Track signals. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of sale or sharing, which we already do not do.
6. How long we keep information
- Purchase and download records: as long as needed for accounting, tax, and legal purposes, generally seven years after the purchase.
- Support correspondence: up to three years after the conversation ends, unless we need it longer to resolve a dispute.
- Technical logs: for the short periods our hosting provider keeps them.
7. Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, you may ask us to:
- Know and access the personal information we have about you, the categories of sources, the purposes, and the categories of recipients;
- Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions such as records we must keep for tax purposes;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it);
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use it to infer characteristics about you).
To make a request, email [email protected] from the email address you used to buy, or tell us which address that was. We may ask for information to verify your identity, such as your order date. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your signed permission. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. California residents may also ask whether we disclosed personal information to third parties for their direct marketing; we do not.
We honor these requests for all customers, wherever they live, as far as we reasonably can.
8. Children
The Products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Downloads are delivered through links tied to a completed purchase.
10. Former hosted Lease Review service
Until October 1, 2026, LegalFriend operated a hosted Lease Review service (at legalfriend.ai and later lease.legalfriend.ai). Unlike our current Products, that service received the information needed to run it:
- lease documents you uploaded and the analysis results generated from them;
- your email address, session and access records, and payment records;
- if you used them, contact-form messages and newsletter or reminder email sign-ups.
Uploaded leases were processed by AI service providers (primarily Google's Gemini models) to produce the analysis, and the service's data was stored with Supabase. Emails were sent through Resend.
The service stopped accepting new uploads and payments on October 1, 2026. If you have an existing analysis, you can view or save it until October 31, 2026. After that date we delete the service's uploaded leases, analysis results, session and access records, and email lists. Deletion will be completed by November 15, 2026; copies in our database provider's routine backups expire on that provider's standard schedule. Payment records stay with Stripe for the accounting periods described in section 6. To have your data deleted sooner, email [email protected].
The same service is now offered as a California Lease Review kit that you run in your own AI, under the rest of this policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information we already have, we will tell you before it applies to that information.
